Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Steerplan mobile application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). The App is operated by Steerplan Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Steerplan is an AI-powered personal finance intelligence platform that helps you understand your spending, income, and financial health. The App provides features including transaction categorisation, spending analysis, budget management, reminders, and AI-driven financial insights. Steerplan provides Account Information Services (AIS) only: we read your bank data but do not move money.

3. Accounts and Authentication

You must create an account to use the App. Authentication is handled through a third-party identity and authentication provider. You may sign in using one of the supported single sign-on (SSO) options. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.

4. Subscription

Steerplan is a subscription service. Creating an account is free, but using the App's features — bank connections, the AI assistant, insights, bills, and outgoings analysis — requires an active Steerplan Pro subscription.

Steerplan Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. The current price is £9.99 per month; new subscribers may receive an introductory founding-member price of £4.99 per month for the first 3 months. Pricing is also shown in the App at the point of subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.

The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your App Store account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

5. Bank Data and Open Banking

Steerplan connects to your bank accounts through Yapily Connect Ltd, our FCA-authorised Open Banking provider. Steerplan Ltd is registered as a PSD Agent of Yapily Connect Ltd on the FCA Financial Services Register, authorised to provide Account Information Services (AIS) only.

Our access is read-only. We cannot initiate payments, transfers, standing orders, or any other movement of money on your behalf. By connecting a bank account, you authorise Yapily Connect Ltd to share your transaction data with us. Consent is valid for 90 days under FCA rules and you will be asked to reconfirm before it expires.

You may disconnect your bank account at any time through the App's settings or directly with your bank. When you disconnect, we revoke the consent with Yapily and delete the related data within Steerplan. We do not store your banking credentials.

6. AI Features and Financial Advice

The App uses a third-party large language model provider to provide financial insights, transaction categorisation, and conversational analysis. AI-generated content is for informational purposes only. Steerplan is not authorised by the FCA to provide regulated financial advice, investment advice, or tax advice, and nothing in the App should be construed as such. You should not rely solely on AI outputs for financial decisions, and you should consult a qualified, regulated adviser for advice specific to your circumstances.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, and intellectual property in the App are owned by Steerplan Ltd. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Steerplan Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated insights or financial data.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms or engage in conduct that we deem harmful to other users or the service. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with the Steerplan service, please contact us at support@steerplan.com. We aim to acknowledge complaints within five business days and resolve them within eight weeks.

If we cannot resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, eligible complainants may refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service at financial-ombudsman.org.uk or on 0800 023 4567. Eligibility for FOS referral is determined by the FOS based on your status (for example consumer or micro-enterprise) and the nature of the complaint.
