Ask Claude or ChatGPT about your money
Connect Steerplan to Claude or ChatGPT and ask about your accounts, bills and plans in the chat you already use. It comes with Steerplan Pro. The AI app reads what Steerplan holds. It can’t make a payment or change anything.

https://mcp.steerplan.aiYou’ll paste this into Claude or ChatGPT. You need Steerplan Pro and at least one bank connected in the app, because Steerplan answers from the banks you’ve connected.
Claude
Works on claude.ai, and in the Claude desktop and mobile apps once it’s added.
- 1On claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors.
- 2Select Add, then Add custom connector.
- 3Name it Steerplan, paste the address and select Continue. Leave the sign-in settings as they are and select Add.
- 4Select Connect and sign in to Steerplan.
- 5In a chat, open the + menu, choose Connectors and switch Steerplan on.
The Free plan allows one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds Steerplan under Organization settings, then Connectors. After that, you select Connect yourself.
ChatGPT
Works on chatgpt.com with a Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan. You can’t add it from the ChatGPT phone app.
- 1On chatgpt.com, open Plugins.
- 2Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
- 3Name it Steerplan and paste the address under Connection.
- 4Choose OAuth for sign-in, tick I understand and want to continue, and select Create as a plugin.
- 5Sign in to Steerplan when asked.
- 6In a chat, type @ and pick Steerplan. Pick it again when a later question needs fresh figures.
On a Business plan, only an admin or owner can add Steerplan. On Enterprise or Edu, an admin can give you permission to add it yourself.
Claude Code
Run this in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http steerplan https://mcp.steerplan.aiStart a new Claude Code session, run /mcp, choose steerplan and select Authenticate. Add --scope user to the command if you want Steerplan in every project.
When you sign in
You sign in with your Steerplan account, the same way you do in the app. Steerplan then shows you what the app can see and what it can’t do. Nothing is shared until you select Allow.
What the app can see:
- Your connected accounts and balances
- Your transactions
- Bills, subscriptions and upcoming payments
- Your Plan and the figures Steerplan works out for it
- Investment accounts, if you have any
What the app can’t do:
- Make a payment or change anything at your bank
- Change anything in Steerplan
- See how you sign in to your bank
If Steerplan hasn’t checked an app, the screen tells you. Only allow an app you added yourself.
If your Steerplan account is on the free plan, the screen says the connection comes with Pro and offers to start it. Nothing is shared.
Removing it
In Steerplan, go to Settings, then Connected apps, and select Remove. The app loses access straight away. You can connect it again later.
You can also remove Steerplan inside the AI app: under Customize, then Connectors in Claude, under Plugins in ChatGPT, or from /mcp in Claude Code. That takes it out of the app. Removing it in Steerplan is what ends its access.
Your data
The connection is read-only. The app reads the same figures you see in Steerplan and can’t make a payment or change anything.
What the AI app does with your data once it has it is covered by your agreement with whoever runs it. Their privacy settings say whether chats are kept or used to train models.

Questions
Which accounts can the AI app see?
The ones you’ve connected in Steerplan. Connect another bank in the app and the AI app can read it too.
Are the figures the same as in Steerplan?
Yes. The AI app gets Steerplan’s own totals and plan figures, so the answers match what the app shows.
Can I connect more than one AI app?
Yes. Each one appears under Connected apps, with when it was connected and last used, and you can remove each one on its own.
Can I use it with ChatGPT Plus or Free?
Not at the moment. ChatGPT only lets Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans add their own connections. Claude lets you add Steerplan on any Claude plan, including Claude’s free one.
Does it cost extra?
It comes with Steerplan Pro, £9.99 a month, and new subscribers may get a 7-day free trial. On the free plan you can follow these steps, but the AI app can’t read your Steerplan until Pro is on. Start Pro in the Steerplan app, or in Settings on steerplan.ai.
